At the time, doctors gave him a life expectancy of two years. But, he went on to become a leading voice in the field of cosmology, mathematics and physics and died, at 76 years old, in 2018.
At 39 years old, Franklin D Roosevelt was diagnosed with polio. His experience and determination led him to establish the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, now known as the March of Dimes, and the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation.
Franklin Roosevelt also served as the 32nd US president during one of the more difficult times in our history. He lead the country through the Great Depression and Second World War.
